Connectivity Options

Sentinel can transmit data using four different connectivity methods:

WiFi

  • WiFi is only used to update devices. Not for standard data transmission.

Cellular (2G/3G/4G/5G)

  • Works anywhere with a mobile signal.

  • We're using an eSIM. Reach out to sentinel-support@conservationxlabs.orgenvelope if you want to use your own SIM card.

  • Due to using an eSIM we can't 100% on what networl the device will roam. The device might work in areas where you're phone struggels (due to working with various providers).

Sentinel with cellular modem

LoRa (Long-Range Radio)

  • Ideal for low-power, long-range communication.

  • Requires LoRa gateway on 'The Things Stack'.

  • Currently works in the Americas, Africa and Europe.

Sentinel with LoRa module

Note, currently all Sentinel have WiFi. Sentinels do currently have either LoRa, cell or satellite connectivity.
